SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine – The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's soccer team played host to the rival Mustangs from Central Maine Community College (CMCC) in a 5-2 defeat at Wainwright Recreation Complex on Thursday, October 13.

How It Happened

The Seawolves started the first half at a very quick pace having several attempts at goal with the first being scored by captain Dylan Weyeneth (St. Agatha, Maine), assisted by sophomore Laszlo Dorogi (West Boylston, Mass.) in the 5th minute. The Mustangs came back in the 19th minute to level the game. SMCC goalkeeper Ian Allen (Avon, Maine), the busier of the two, tallied six saves in the first 45 minutes. The first half ended in a 1-1 stalemate with both sides competing for possession.

CMCC took an early lead in the second half, scoring their second goal in the 51st minute. The Seawolves' quick counter in the 54th minute saw first-year William Perry (Gorham, Maine) even the score again, 2-2. The Mustangs went ahead in the 58th minute, 3-2, before stringing another two goals in the 61st and 62nd minute of the match.

Despite every effort from the Seawolves' offense, they were unable to add to the scoreboard going down 5-2 by the end of regulation.
