Mustangs trap Beavers in local showdown

Auburn, ME - At the end of the first quarter the Mustangs found themselves in an unfamiliar place... behind. Fortunately, this position would not last long. Clara Bandh (Sollentuna, Sweden) hit a 3-pointer just 50-seconds into the 2nd quarter to give the Mustangs a 16-13 lead, and they never looked back.

Emily Strachan (Lewiston, ME) recorded 15 points, 6 steals, and 6 assists to lead a trio of Mustangs in double-figures. Luna Love (Zwolle, Netherlands) hit three 3-pointers and finished with 15 points, and Kali Thompson (Waterville, ME) finished with another double-double, this time with 10 points, 11 rebounds, 4 steals, and 2 assists.

Bandh and Elizabeth Barrientos (Manchester, NH) provided a spark off the bench. BAndh hit three 3-pointers to finish with 9 points and 4 rebounds, while Barreintos was relentless on defense, finishing with 7 points, 6 rebounds, and 1 steal.

Maddy White led the Beavers with 16 points.

With the win the Mustangs improved to 7-0 overall. They will be back in action on Friday, when they travel to Portsmouth, NH to take on the Herons of Great Bay Community College. Following this YSCC matchup, the Mustangs will begin a 5-game homestand. They host their third NCAA DIII game against Plymouth State (11/22), then host three conference foes, Albany College of Pharmacy (12/2), Vermont Tech (12/3), and NHTI (12/7). Their final game of the homestand is against Berkeley College (NY) on 12/10.
