Mustangs earn split against DIII UMPI

Auburn, ME - Game One - Central Maine Community College Mustangs wins contest against University of Maine at Presque Isle Owls, 4-1

In the first inning, University of Maine at Presque Isle got their offense started when Zoe Stewart drew a walk, scoring one run.
The Mustangs knotted the game up at one in the bottom of the first inning, when Emily Wormwood doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
 
The Mustangs then pulled away for good with three runs in the third inning. Riley McNamara singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, Olivia Scott singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run, and Gracelyn Walsh induced Sarah Poli to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored.
 
Scott earned the win for the Mustangs. The hurler lasted seven innings, allowing three hits and one run while striking out ten.
Walsh took the loss for University of Maine at Presque Isle.
 
The pitcher allowed six hits and four runs over six innings, striking out five. Olivia Gallan went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Mustangs in hits. 
 
 
Game Two 
 
Saturday's game two was a heartbreaker for the Mustangs, as they lost the lead late in a 3-1 defeat. The game was tied at one with University of Maine at Presque Isle batting
 
In the top of the fifth when Dalaney Anfinson singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run. The pitching was strong on both sides. University of Maine at Presque Isle pitchers struck out four, while the Mustangs sat down one.
 
The Mustangs got on the board in the first inning when Paige Ouellette grounded out, scoring one run. In the top of the third inning, University of Maine at Presque Isle tied things up at one. Anfinson's sac fly scored one run.
 
Hailey Saylor led Presque Isle to victory in the pitcher's circle. The pitcher surrendered one run on two hits over seven innings, striking out four.
Riley McNamara took the loss for Mustangs. The pitcher surrendered three runs on six hits over six innings, striking out one.
 
Sarah Poli and McNamara each collected one hit to lead the Mustangs. Olivia Gallan added two stolen bases.
 
Next Up for the Mustangs they travel to Farmington Sunday to take on the Beavers in double header action game times 12 and 2pm.
