SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine – Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) Women's Basketball won by a landslide at home this weekend, 82-51, over United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Division 1 University of Maine at Fort Kent (UMFK).

The Seawolves took to an incredible start, scoring more points in the first half than UMFK would score for the entire game. The ladies comfortably held on to the lead to claim their seventh home victory of the season.

Junior Hope Butler (Rockland, Maine) had an outstanding performance for the Seawolves with 16 points, six assists and seven rebounds. Junior captain Tara Flanders (Windham, Maine) also put in a great effort with 13 points and 12 rebounds and first-Year Kaiyla Delisle (Cumberland, Maine) finished with 10 points and eight rebounds.

UMFK's Arieyle Baker and Sheyla Aguilar each scored 13 and ripping a combined 13 rebounds.

Head Coach Katie Stannard was extremely pleased with the team's performance, "This was an amazing team effort. It didn't feel like one person took over but we were certainly a force today. We have been working hard in practice, determined to get better every day and it showed this afternoon! Always proud of this team!"

The win moves the Seawolves record to 14-5 thus far.

SMCC's next game will be played in Concord, New Hampshire against conference-foe NHTI on Wednesday, February 1. Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m.
