SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's basketball team took revenge on the Clippers from the University of Maine at Machias 76-67 in its final regular season game and on Senior Day Saturday, Feb. 15.

Before lineups were announced, SMCC Athletics gave recognition to four graduating captains for their dedication and service to the program—junior Julianna Lafrenaye (Nobleboro, Maine), junior Morgan Rice (Westbrook, Maine), senior Adrianna White (Lisbon, Maine), and junior Amanda Brett (Portland, Maine).

The game featured five ties and 11 lead changes. Although the Clippers took advantage of 30 points-off-turnovers, SMCC made its difference from beyond the arc (47.1 percent) and on the glass (45).

Brett finished with 23 points, 11 rebounds, and five assists. First-year Ashleigh Mathisen (Portland, Maine) totaled 12 points all by way of the three-pointer.

Machias' Tate Dolley led all scorers in the contest with 35 points on 12-29 shooting—improving on her league-best points-per-game average.

In a post-game interview, Head Coach Katie Stannard commented, "Today was an excellent display of grit and toughness. Trailing after the first quarter, we were able to win the last three and put ourselves in the driver's seat down the stretch. Once again Amanda answered the bell—she continues to prove the caliber of player she is. It was also special to get a win for our four graduating players and set us up for a favorable matchup next week."

The Lady SeaWolves conclude their regular season at 21-5 overall and 12-4 in Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) action—to enter postseason play as the #3 seed. The Clippers will go into playoffs with the second-best conference record at 13-3, 18-7 overall.

SMCC will host in the quarterfinal round on Saturday, Feb. 22. The opponent and tip-time is still to be determined.
