Front Royal, VA – Crusader Volleyball took on Penn State New Kensington and Penn State Shenango on Saturday, September 7. The Crusaders fell to New Kensington but defeated Shenango later in the day.

Front Royal, VA – Crusader Volleyball took on Penn State New Kensington and Penn State Shenango on Saturday, September 7. The Crusaders fell to New Kensington but defeated Shenango later in the day.
The Crusaders started the first set against New Kensington with intensity, but the competition was evenly matched, the score being tied at 16-16 at one point. New Kensington pulled away, however, and the Crusaders lost the first set 25-17. The second set also resulted in defeat for the Crusaders with a score of 25-20. Despite the two early losses, the Crusaders rallied in the third set, winning 25-19, but New Kensington was victorious in the fourth set and they won the match 3-1.
The Crusaders returned later in the day, determined to gain a victory over Shenango. Despite losing the first two sets, the Crusaders remained motivated. The third set was hard-fought, and the score was very close. Through a spectacular effort, the Crusaders emerged victorious with a score of 27-25. With this new momentum, the Crusaders dominated the next two sets, winning 25-12 and 15-6. This amazing 3-2 comeback victory was led by Elizabeth Heisler (Sophomore/Front Royal, VA), who had 16 kills, and defensively by Bea Stanford (Sophomore/Front Royal, VA), who had 34 digs.
