Men's Basketball Defeats Penn State Hazleton, 69-38

Men's Basketball improved to 5-1 in PSUAC play following a 69-38 victory over Penn State Hazleton this past Saturday.

Schuylkill jumped out to a 10-2 run in the first half, forcing a Hazleton timeout. Dashawn Dixon (Baltimore, MD / Cantonsville High School) would score on the next Schuylkill possession; assisted by Andrew Sepp (Bogota, NJ / Saint Mary High School), to push the lead to 12-2. Dixon and Antwuan Byrd (Harrisburg, PA / Bishop McDevitt High School) did a great job of leading the offensive charge for Schuylkill in the half, scoring 21 of Schuylkill's 32 first half points.

Hazleton would be the first to find the net in the second half, converting on a jump shot to make the score 32-14. Sepp would push the lead to 21 on a 3-point make. Hazleton would answer immediately with a 3 point make of their own to bring the deficit back under 20. A made layup and a pair of free throws by Bryce Hensley (Auburn, PA / Blue Mountain High School) would swing the momentum back to Schuylkill with 16:00 minutes remaining in regulation.

Schuylkill's lead would extend to 30 on a made layup by Hensley with 7:45 remaining in the contest. Hazleton would begin to claw back in the final minutes. Ryan Worrell (Leesport, PA / Schuylkill Valley High School) would find the mark on a 3-point attempt with 4:49 remaining to make the score 59-30. Schuylkill would be in control for the remainder of the contest.

Dixon led Schuylkill with 17 points and 18 rebounds. Hensley added 16 points on 7-10 shooting. Byrd contributed with 11 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists.
