Softball splits series with Brandywine

Game One: Penn State Brandywine 4, Penn State Mont Alto 3

Penn State Mont Alto's comeback effort fell short in game one of the doubleheader at Penn State Brandywine on Friday as they fell 4-3. Delaney Glazer got the start in the first game, striking out ten batters in 6.2 innings of work. Destiny Hall led the offense in hits with two as she went 2 for 3.

Payton Landis and Karly Rees got Brandywine on the board first with their run scoring hits in the bottom of the first inning as they led 2-0 after one inning. Mont Alto cut the lead in half with Abigail Cunningham reaching on a fielder's choice which scored Destiny Hall

Emily Reagan would push the lead back to two runs when she scored on a Mont Alto fielding error. Down to their final at-bat, Mont Alto pushed the game to the bottom of the seventh inning as they scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning. Destiny Hall got the rally started with a single up the middle. Rachel Alleman followed that up in the following at-bat with a triple down the left field line, plating Hall. Emily Sicinski scored Alleman on the next at-bat on a sacrifice fly to tie the game at 3-3. Two Brandywine hits in the bottom half of the inning loomed large for Mont Alto as Maddie DeFazio ended the game on a RBI groundout.
