Concord, NH ~ The Paul Smith's College Volleyball Team hit the road recently for their first weekend of conference play, battling through four matches.
The Bobcats came up just short in five-set thrillers against CMCC and SMCC but rebounded with sweeps over NHTI and GBCC.
Against SMCC, sophomore Finnley Jacobson (Vergenns, VT) put up impressive numbers with 13 kills and 14 digs. Senior Alli Cherry (Grasonville, MD) also contributed with 17 assists, 13 digs, and five kills, while Jordan Louis Crystal, NM) continued her solid play with 10 assists, 14 digs, and six kills. On the defensive side, Maddi Rhodes (Charlotte, NC) and Kaliyah Davis (Queensbury, NY) anchored the back row with 22 and 18 digs, respectively, with Davis also contributing 4 kills.
In the match against CMCC, Jordan Louis delivered a standout all-around performance, registering 19 digs, 12 assists, and 10 kills. Karlye Murphy (Hilton, NY) added 18 digs, while Jacobson tallied 17 digs and eight kills. Kaliyah Davis also contributed seven kills and 15 digs.
During the sweep of NHTI, Jacobson and Davis led the defensive effort with 14 and 12 digs, respectively. Offensively, the kills were distributed evenly, with Davis and Louis each recording six kills, while Cherry, Jacobson, and Ali Russell (Old Forge, NY) added five kills apiece. Cherry and Louis also guided the offense with 12 and nine assists, respectively.
In Sunday's match against GBCC, Kaliyah Davis excelled, notching 10 kills and 11 digs. Cherry dominated from the service line with nine aces while adding 16 assists. Louis and Jacobson added five and four assists, respectively, with Jacobson also posting five kills.
The Bobcats will look to build on their strong performances as they continue their conference campaign on Saturday at WOLBI in rematches against SMCC, CMCC, and GBCC.
