Mustangs Sweep Badgers

Johnson, Vt - The CM Softball Team Sweep the Badgers of Nothern Vermont Johnson Sunday in a triple header afternoon matinee.

Game 1: Mustangs W, 12-9

The Mustangs started game one with Olivia Scott (Quispamsis, Canada) who allowed 7 hits, collecting  6  strike outs and walking 4 batter's allowing 9 runners to cross the plate while picking up the win. Elyse Guptill (Porter, Me) came in and pitched the 6th and 7th inning only allowing 1 hit and no runs and closed out the game

The Mustangs bats collect 12 hits in game 1. The Mustangs were paced by Paige Ouellette (Auburn, N.H.) with 3 hits 2 RBI'S and 5 stolen bases she was followed by Olivia Gallon (S. Paris, Me) who had a hit and RBI scored 3 times and had 4 stolen bases herself.  Sarah Poli (Benton, Me) added 2 hits as did Emily Sanfacon (Lebanon, Me) one  being a double and Gianna Russo (Lisbon, Me) with 2 hits and 2 RBI's.

Game 1 saw the Mustangs commit 2 errors.

Game 2: Mustangs W, 9-1 (6 innings)

In game 2, the Mustangs turned to first-year Elyse Guptill (Porter, Me)  to make the start. Guptill picking up where she left off in game 1 only allowed 4 hits, collecting 2 strike outs and walking only one batter in 4 innings before Riley McNamara (Manchester, N.H.) came in and pitched the 5th and 6th inning. Guptill picked up the win.

Game 2  saw the Mustangs collect another 12 hits. Paige Ouellette (Auburn, N.H.) continuing her damage from game 1 with another 3 hits 1 being a triple and 1 being a double with 2 RBI'S and a stolen base she was followed by Olivia Gallon (S. Paris, Me) who had 2 hits scored 2 times and had another 2 stolen bases herself.  Gianna Russo (Lisbon, Me) added 2 more hits and an RBI. Olivia Scott (Quispamsis, Canada) added 2 hits of hr own while Abby Ferland (Monmouth, Me) and Elyse Guptill both added doubles and Mckenna Ridlon (Hartford, Me) addd a hit as well.

Game 2 saw the Mustangs again commit 3 errors.

Game 3: Mustangs W, 17-8 (4 innings due to rain)

In game 3, the Mustangs turned to first-year Riley McNamara (Manchester, N.H.)  to make the start. McNamara  picked up where she left off in game 2 only allowed 7 hits, collecting 1 strike out and walking no batters.

Game 3  saw the Mustangs collect another 10 hits. The Mustangs were led by Olivia Gallon (S. Paris, Me) who had 2 hits and another stolen base. Folled by Abby Ferland (Monmouth, Me) who added 2 hits and 2 RBI's. Sarah Poli (Benton, Me) blasted an over the fence home run collecting 3 RBI's. Mckenna Ridlon (Hartford, Me) and Katie Colvard (Tamworth, N.H.) each collected a double while Riley McNamara (Manchester, N.H.) Emily Sanfacon (Lebanon, Me) and Alyvia Perrault (Dixfield, Me) each collect hits while Perrault added 4 stolen bases and Sanfacon had 2 of her own.

Game 3 saw the Mustangs again commit two errors.

After the game Head Coach Bruce Robertson, commented, " This was a good day for us vs a D3 School. Game 1 was a slugfest by both teams. Olivia pitched well just sometimes teams get hits. It was good to see us have to battle adversity and com back for the win. Game 2 we came out hot and did not look back. Elyse pitched very well. Game 3 again we came out hot at the plate Riley pitched a good game as well. We have very good hitters and we are quick on the base paths."

Next up the Mustangs host Thomas College on Monday, September 27th with 6pm and 7:30pm game times.
