SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine – The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) baseball team captured its sixth consecutive Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) regular season title with a sweep of rival Central Maine Community College on Saturday, Apr. 29.

Game 1: W, 7-3 | [BOX]

The game was knotted 3-3 after two innings of play, but the Seawolves pulled ahead pushing two across in both the fourth and fifth innings. The Mustangs were unable to respond, and the home squad shut the door in the top-half of the seventh to secure the victory.

First-year Luke Wearne (Ellington, Conn.) tallied two RBI, and teammate Anthony Sayers (Benoni, South Africa) finished with a run, a RBI, and a stolen base.

CMCC's Zach Mann knocked in two Mustangs; Brandon Gour posted a hit and a RBI.

Seawolves' starter Thomas Knott (Winterport, Maine) allowed just five hits over a complete-game performance to record his fourth win of the season. The Mustangs split pitchers— Trevor Phelps took the loss.

Game 2: W, 5-0 | [BOX]

Both offenses were held at bay for the first four innings, until the Seawolves did their damage in the fourth and fifth innings.

Sayers continued his hot afternoon with two more RBI on two hits. Sophomore Justin Colon (Aguada, Puerto Rico) scored twice for his 37th and 38th runs of the season.

CMCC's Mann went 2-3 from the plate, featuring a double.

SMCC starter Kalin Marum (New South Wales, Australia) threw a complete game shutout to earn his third win of his sophomore campaign. CMCC's Derek Roman was taxed the loss after his complete game performance.

The result moves SMCC to 20-15 overall and 8-1 in league action.

The Seawolves will take on the #4 Herons from Great Bay Community College in the semifinal round of the conference tournament on Saturday, May 6. First-pitch from The Ballpark in Old Orchard Beach is scheduled for 10:30 a.m.
