Tough loss for baseball against CCAC

Lemont Furnace, PA- Penn State Fayette baseball had a tough loss to CCAC last night in their home opener of the season.

Penn State Fayette baseball had a hard loss last night against Community College of Allegheny County for their home opener. Heading into the bottom of the 8th in looked like CCAC had sealed the deal with a 9-5 lead over the Fayette Nittany Lions, but with strong determination Fayette rallied two runs by Ethan Rendulic and Connor Vig, making the score 9-7. Heading into the 9th inning Fayette fought hard with three quick outs and a run scored by D'Andrea Sawyer for only a 9-8 deficit. Unfortunately, with bases loaded Fayette received their third out to end the game with a final score of 9-7.

Coach Ryan Encapera shared his thoughts about the tough loss, "[It] was a tough hard-fought loss, we worked so hard to set ourselves up to win and in the end, we left too many runners in scoring positions on base. [We] had a fantastic start from AJ Segarra who kept them off balance and kept it close and gave us a chance."

First year pitcher, AJ Segarra was able to obtain 4 strikeouts in his 6 innings at the mound. Other leading players for the game included Cade Warrick with 2 runs, along with Ethan Rendulic and Connor Vig both adding 1 run and 1 RBI.

Fayette is set to play their first PSUAC games of the season Saturday, with a double header, against Penn State Beaver at home for start times of 1:00 P.M. and 3:00 P.M.
