Auburn, ME - Playing in their first home game since December 10th, the Mustangs were met with a scrappy and hot shooting Paul Smith's team. The Bobcats came out firing and not intimidated by the Mustangs, leading 9-4 after the first quarters, and 25-21 at half time.

It is rare that the Mustangs trail at halftime of YSCC contests, but Paul Smith's came ready to play and earned the 5-point halftime lead over the surprised Mustangs. Fortunately for CM, the second half was a completely different story. The Mustangs came our firing on all cylinders, outscoring the Bobcats 26-8 in the 3rd quarter on their way to a 69-45 victory.

Mikenzie Melendez (Saco, ME) was the only starter to score in double-figures, scoring a career-high 21 points to go along with 5 steals, 3 assists, and 3 rebounds. Her energy set the tone for the flat Mustangs, leading her to play a team-high 27-minutes. Clara Bandh (Sollentuna, Sweden) hit for 13 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists while Chantel Ouellette (Auburn, ME) tallied 10 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals. Both Ouellete and Bandh drew offensive fouls as well.

Rayna Duzant (St. Albans, NY) and Elizabeth Barrientos (Manchester, NH) both played well, and with high energy, off the bench. Jade Smedberg (Oxford, ME) recorded game-highs of 10 rebounds and 6 steals, while both Emily Strachan (Lewiston, ME) and Kali Thompson (Waterville, ME) recorded 8 rebounds each.

Holly Bagley led the Bobcats with 10 points before fouling out.

With the win the Mustangs improce to 16-2 overall and 8-0 in the Yankee Conference. They will be back in action on Thursday when they host the Herons of Great Bay CC in another YSCC matchup.
