The Golden Eagles baseball team watched a pair of games get away from them early as they dropped a double header at Cincinnati Clermont on Sunday afternoon.

In a doubleheader that was rescheduled from a rain out on Saturday, Kent State Tuscarawas struggled offensively and in the field against the Cougars. On the afternoon the Eagles could manage just 10 hits while also committing 10 errors, even though they did collect eight hits in the final game of the day.

Clermont took the first game 10-0 as the Cougars retired eight navy and gold batters via strikeout, while Blake Alexander and Sebastian Hanlin managed the only hits for KSU Tusc.

The hosts won the nightcap by a 15-3 score and the Golden Eagles bats finally came alive as they banged out eight hits. Unfortunately, the Eagles made six errors and surrendered 15 hits.

In a four-hit home half of the first inning the Cougars scored four runs on four hits, with a homer, double and two singles to take a quick 4-0 lead. They added single tallies in both the second and third innings, as the Eagles plated a pair of runs in a two-run third inning.

Charlie Drumm whacked his second extra base hit of the season on a one-out line drive double to centerfield. Brandon Troyer drew a free pass after a strikeout and with the count 3-0 on Scott Sauernheimer, the Eagles executed a double steal as Drumm took third and Troyer moved to second. Sauernheimer then walked to load the bases.

With Hanlin at the plate Drumm stole home on an error by the Cougars catcher for the Eagles first run of the game while Troyer advanced to third. Hanlin then singled home Troyer on a sharply hit ground ball into left field. The scoring ended with a third Golden Eagles strikeout of the inning.

The Eagles totaled eight hits in the game as Drumm, Cole Lancaster and Hanlin each had a multi-hit day. Drumm led KSU Tusc batters going a perfect three for three with a double and a run scored. Lancaster and Hanlin each had two hits in four plate appearances while the latter also knocked in two RBIs for the Eagles.

On Wednesday the Eagles (0-4) travel to Penn State Beaver for a 9-inning game with a 2pm first pitch.
