Moose Fall to Undefeated Seawolves

HOW IT HAPPENED

The University of Maine at Augusta (UMA) lost at home Tuesday night to Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) 55-69 ending their 4-game winning streak. The Moose struck first and in the opening seconds with a layup from Kaeti Butterfield followed by Madeline Suhr to put UMA up 4-0. That would prove to be the biggest lead held by either team through the first half with the Moose leading 20-18 going into the second half. 

The Moose were able to hold Amanda Brett to 10 points in the first half as well Aija Andrews to only 6 with their defensive play. 5 minutes into the 3rd quarter the Seawolves went on a run going up by as much as 11 eventually putting the Moose down 49-40 going into the final quarter. Kaeti Butterfield fouled out early in the fourth quarter and the Moose struggled to connect offensively or stop SMCC's Brett or Andrews for combing for 14 points in the 4th.
