Slow Start Dooms Lions

Pittsburgh, PA- The Lions took a trip to downtown Pittsburgh last night for a nonconference showdown with Point Park University.

The Lions fell behind early, going cold from the floor on their way to a 42-16 deficit with just over five minutes remaining in the first half. New Kensington showed some fight, finishing the half on a 9-3 run to cut the lead to 45-25 entering the break.

Point Park used a 16-5 run over the first five minutes of the second half to pull away for good. The Lions struggled all night in the paint, being outrebounded 51-33 on their way to an 87-57 defeat.

Freshmen Senique Jenkins (Pittsburgh, PA) led the Lions with 11 points in only 15 minutes off the bench. Sophomore center Jovan Kojic (Subbotica, Serbia) added 9 points and 3 rebounds, while both sneiors Joseph Dusabe (Toronto, ON) and Jaden Stonework (Clinton, MD) both chipped in 6 points apiece.

The Lions will regroup as they prepare to get back into PSUAC play this Saturday, January 14th at 5:00 PM when they welcome Penn State Brandywine to the athletic center.
