Softball picks up sweep of DuBois

Game One: Penn State Mont Alto 10, Penn State DuBois 1 (F/6)

Delaney Glazer earned the start in game one of the doubleheader against Penn State DuBois on Saturday afternoon. Glazer struck out 10 batters in six innings to pick up the victory. She moved her record to 4-4 on the season with a 4.48 ERA.

 

Mont Alto took an early 1-0 lead as Destiny Hall plated Delaney Glazer on a RBI single in the top of the first inning. The vistors added three more runs in the third inning when Rachel Alleman scored Hall and McKenna Sas on a RBI triple. Mont Alto wouldn't stop there as they scored two more runs in the top of the fourth inning as McKenna Sas scored Kirsten Dell and MacKenzie Stake on a RBI triple. 

 

Kelsey Stuart got Penn State DuBois on the board in the bottom of the fourth when she recorded a RBI groundout to second base. DuBois only mustered four hits in the first game of the doubleheader as Mont Alto scored 10 runs in six innings off 13 combined hits.

 

McKenna Sas and Rachel Alleman both help lead the offensive efforts with three hits each. Sas led the team in RBI's in game one with three and Hall, Alleman and Abigail Cunningham each recorded two.

Game Two: Penn State Mont Alto 9, Penn State DuBois 6

Penn State Mont Alto picked up a doubleheader sweep against Penn State DuBois by picking up a 9-6 victory in game two. Kirsten Dell went the distance, giving up nine hits and striking out two batters.

 

Mont Alto scored first on two RBI groundouts by Dani Lynn Barklow and Jaylin Belton to take a 2-0 lead after the top half of the second inning. DuBois would tie the game in the home half of the inning on back-to-back RBI singles by Megan Hyde and Makena Baney.

 

DuBois added two more runs in the third inning to take a 5-3 lead on a RBI single from Brianna Bone with two outs in the inning. With a 5-3 deficit, Penn State Mont Alto scored the next six runs in the game with four runs in the fifth and two in the sixth inning. 

 

Destiny Hall picked up a RBI single and Abigail Cunningham had a RBI double in the top of the sixth to extend the lead to 9-5. The DuBois comeback effort fell short as they only scored one run in the bottom of the sixth inning and none in the seventh.
