Women's Volleyball Defeated by Penn State Hazleton

HAZLETON, Pa. – Penn State Schuylkill Women's Volleyball fell to PSUAC opponent Penn State Hazleton in three sets.

With Schuylkill trailing 8-6 in the first set, a kill from Maddy Robinson (Auburn, PA / Blue Mountain) sparked a 7-2 run, highlighted by three consecutive kills from Sydney Morton (Norfolk, VA / Gateway Christian Academy), all assisted by Ryliegh Sinko (Minersville, PA / Nativity BVM). However, Hazleton responded with an 8-0 run, securing the first set.

Schuylkill started strong in the second set, with a kill from Mahea Kelley (Bowie, MD / Bowie) followed by back-to-back aces from Sierra Wishnefsky (Ringtown, PA / North Schuylkill). Hazleton answered with a run that kept them in control for the rest of the set, though Schuylkill battled back, closing the set on an 8-3 run. The third set was closely contested until a mid-set surge by Hazleton put it out of reach.

Morton led Schuylkill with 8 kills, while Robinson added 6 kills, 11 digs, and 4 blocks. Kelley and Wishnefsky both reached double digits in digs, with 12 and 10, respectively, and Wishnefsky recorded 3 aces. Sinko contributed 19 assists and 9 digs.

Schuylkill (3-10 overall, 2-5 PSUAC) will host Penn State Lehigh Valley for their next matchup on Thursday, October 10th.
