Baseball Loses in a Tough out of Conference Battle 9-2
Monaca,PA Today Penn State Beaver played against Kent State Tuscarwaras and lost in a tough 9-2 battle. Beaver is currently 2-19 overall for the season and still working to turn their season around. Penn State Beaver still stands 2-5 in regular conference play.
Kent State Tuscarawaras got out to an early 1-0 run after center fielder Charlie Drum hit a massive home run giving this team some momentum in the top of the first. Beaver followed up this home run by competing and tying the game up in the bottom of the first. Beaver started to lose traction in the second inning giving up 3 unanswered runs to Kent State and by the end of the 4th inning beaver found themselves in a devastating 6-1 deficit. By the 5th inning both Sebastian Hanlin and Caleb Cambell for Kent State Tuscarawas extended their lead to 8-1 before Junior Matthew Cater's (Monaca, PA) singled for an RBI aiding Sophomore Jericho Dela Cruz (Auburn,WA) for Penn State Beaver to add to beavers scoring column again. Freshman Philip Betz (Marietta, CA) went 3-4 at bat and hit two impressive doubles in today's competition. Freshman Nicholas Campbell (Lewes, DE) also only gave up 1 run in five innings pitching for Penn State Beaver.
