NEWPORT, R.I.—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's basketball 7-game win streak was spoiled at the Naval Academy Preparatory School following a 56-52 loss in non-conference action on Saturday, Jan. 25.

SMCC's lowest point totals of the season have come against Navy Prep, one resulting in a 49-46 victory at The HUB earlier this season.

In a post-game interview, Head Coach Katie Stannard reflected, "Navy created a competitive environment and we answered the bell all game long. It came down to the wire and we found ourselves on the other end—these games happen. Hats off to talented and disciplined opponent. Now we return to conference scheduling and the focus begins with NHTI."

The result leaves SMCC 17-3 overall and 8-2 on the road; Navy Prep gets to 6-6 overall. The teams split the two-game season series, a regular trend as of the previous eight years—Navy holds the advantage 7-6 during that stretch.

The action continues when the Lady SeaWolves travel to Concord, N.H. to finish the season set with NHTI on Thursday, Jan. 30. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. WATCH.
