BOSTON, Mass.—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's basketball team took to the road to defeat the Bulldogs from Bunker Hill Community College (BHCC) 80-32 in a non-conference showdown Sunday, Jan. 12.

Junior captain Amanda Brett (Portland, Maine) commanded the key with a double-double in 21 minutes of action—ripping 12 rebounds and dropping 21 points, her seventh game with 20 or more this season. First-year Aija Andrews (Norwalk, Conn.) matched a season-high five blocks and added 14 points on 7-11 shooting and first-year Tara Flanders (Windham, Maine) produced a complete stat line with nine points, seven rebounds, and seven assists.

As a team, the SeaWolves connected for a 47.1 percent clip from the field and 35.3 percent from beyond the arc. The road squad pulled 25 offensive rebounds and assisted on 25 of its 32 baskets to improve on their 7-1 record away from the HUB.

In a post-game interview, Head Coach Katie Bergeron commented, "Everyone contributed with playing time and 10 made their way into the scoresheet. We continue to shape as a team and develop a successful road routine that will carry us into the second semester and a heavy conference slate."

SMCC extends its win streak to five games and moves to 15-2 overall; BHCC slips to 8-7 on the season.

Next, the Lady Wolves will travel to Unity College and get back to conference scheduling in their second meeting with the Rams on Wednesday, Jan. 15. Tip-off in Unity, Maine is set for 6 p.m.
