Mustangs roll over Hawks

Auburn, ME - The Mustangs offense came alive Tuesday night by scoring a total of 28 runs in a doubleheader sweep against York County Community College. 

In game 1, Keith Hooker went 2-2 with a homerun and a double to go along with five RBI as the Mustangs bats came alive in a 15-0 mercy rule affair. Zach Mann was a repeat hitter going 2-3 with a RBI. Avery MacWhinnie and Colton Frisbie also had two RBI apiece. Craig Burnett started on the mound before giving way to Brogan McCormick to finish

 

In game 2, the Mustangs started slow but caught fire in the 5th and raced away with a 13-3 victory. Keith Hooker once again was the man of the hour with two hits and four RBI. That gave him four hits and nine RBI on the night. Shane Sullivan had three hits. Trevor Phelps, Colton Frisbie and Caden Truman had two hits. Phelps added two RBI. Jack Cote was efficient on the mound going the distance picking up his first collegiate win. 

Coach Ryan Palmer shared his thoughts on the game, "I'd like to talk about how well our team play today, but I'm really going to talk about how great it was to see York County on the field tonight. They help the Yankee Conference tremendously and we are thrilled to have them."

York County is coached by former major-league pitcher Kike Calero. This was York County's first baseball game in school history. 

The Mustangs are back in action on Thursday night for the home doubleheader with Great Bay.
