Softball sweeps Christendom behind Glazer's no-hitter

Game One: Penn State Mont Alto 11, Christendom 0 (F/5)

 

Delaney Glazer pitched an 11 strikeout, no-hitter performance in game one of the non-conference softball doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon as Mont Alto earned the game one win via mercy rule by a final of 11-0. Emily Sicinski went 2 for 3 with 3 RBI's and Abigail Cunningham went 3 for 3 with 3 RBI's to pace the offensive effort for the Nittany Lions. 

 

Mont Alto scored four runs in the top of the first inning, as Destiny Hall, Rachel Alleman and Abigail Cunningham each recorded hits. Mont Alto added five more runs in the following inning on five more hits. 

 

The visitors added on an insurance run in the top of the third and fourth innings to win game one 11-0.

Game Two: Penn State Mont Alto 14, Christendom 1 (F/5)

 

Mont Alto continued its momentum from game one and earned the non-conference sweep of Christendom with a 12-1 five inning win. Mackenzie Stake tossed five strikeouts in her three innings of work and Kirsten Dell struck two out in her two innings of relief. 

 

Nine different Mont Alto players recorded hits in the winning effort as Skye Herring led the way, going 2 for 4 with four RBI's. 

 

In the top of the first inning, the Nittany Lions put up a seven spot, registering five hits and two walks. The Crusaders responded with Lucy Wingate scoring a run in the bottom of the first inning before Mont Alto went on to score two runs in the second, three in the fourth and two in the fifth and final inning.
