Volleyball Wins 5th Set Thriller vs. MACU, Falls to Regent
Front Royal, VA – The Christendom College Volleyball team put up an impressive performance in their tri-match on Saturday, September 28th. Although the team fell to the Regent University Royals in their first match 3-0, they pulled away with a win against the Mid-Atlantic Christian University Mustangs 3-2 in their second game of the day.

Front Royal, VA – The Christendom College Volleyball team put up an impressive performance in their tri-match on Saturday, September 28th. Although the team fell to the Regent University Royals in their first match 3-0, they pulled away with a win against the Mid-Atlantic Christian University Mustangs 3-2 in their second game of the day.
The Crusaders were determined to give the Regent University Royals a tough fight for the match. However, the team's defense was unable to hold up against the Royals, and they fell in the first set 25-12. The second set found renewed energy for the Crusaders. They picked up their game but could not overcome the Royals aggressive attack. The Royals won the second set 25-21. Despite the strong efforts of Christendom, Regent came on top in the third set as well, 25-12. With this final set, the Crusaders fell to the Royals 3-0. Although unable to gain the victory, the Crusaders played hard in the match. Christendom's Libero, Aimee Simpson (Freshman/ Mandeville, LA), had an outstanding game coming off an injury, with a total of 23 digs in the match.
After a loss in their first game, the Crusaders were determined to take a victory in the day's tri-match. Motivated by this, Christendom came on top in the first set, 25-16 over the Mustangs. Mid-Atlantic Christian could not contain the Crusaders' momentum on offense, and the Crusaders gained another commanding victory in the match 25-18. The team was unable to capitalize on the next two sets. They did not lose the sets without a good fight, barely letting the Mustangs pull away 25-20 and 27-25. As the game went into the fifth and final set, the Crusaders were dialed in on the court. With exceptional play from setter Regina Cousino (Junior/ Ann Arbor, MI), Christendom ended the match victorious 3-2, taking the final set 15-11. Thanks to the whole team's performance, as well as an impressive game from Mary Pennefather (Sophomore/ Manassas, VA) with almost 20 points, the Crusaders added another victory to their record.
