Lady Lions drop a Pitcher's Duel in the 7th
Penn State Beaver fell to Pikesville University 3-2.
North Myrtle Beach, SC- The Lady Lions looked to finish their Spring trip strong on the final day of the 2020 Fast Pitch Dreams event. Up first was Pikesville University.
Freshman Rose Johnson took the mound in game one, and delivered a gem. In six innings, Johnson gave up one hit, and struck out two, holding the opposition scoreless.
Offensively, Beaver struggled early, striking out 8 times the first time through the order, going down in order. In the fourth, Beaver was able to scratch a run across to take the lead. Johnson helped her own cause, hitting a one out double, and then was drove in by Sophomore MIchelle Cisco who followed with a one out triple. In the sixth, Beaver added an insurance run. Sophomre Tyler Johnson led off the inning reaching base on a hit by pitch, then stole second. With two outs, Senior Jessica Hughes laced a single, driving in Johnson to give Beaver a 2-0 lead.
Freshman Desire Aponte took the hill in the seventh. She struck out the first two batters faced. Unfortunately for Beaver, at this point, the wheels came off. Two errors, a walk, and a hit later, Beaver found themselves on the wrong side of a 3-2 decision.
The Lady Lions return to action at 11:30AM today.
