Volleyball Defeats Great Bay, Stays Unbeaten in YSCC

Portsmouth, NH – The Central Maine Community College volleyball squad breezed to a straight sets win on the road at Great Bay on Wednesday night, taking the conference match 3-0. The Mustangs are off to a 4-0 start in YSCC play.

CMCC led from the get-go in the first set, building a 12-4 advantage before seeing things out. Shalamar Szarka finished it off with a cross-court kill from the right side, giving the Mustangs a 25-15 win.

Central Maine took a 9-3 lead to start the second set before the Herons battled back following a timeout, trimming the deficit to 10-7. Autumn Peterson's spike would hit the hardwood off the wall to seal a 25-19 set victory.

Great Bay did its best to stay within three or four points throughout the third set, hoping to push the game further. But a good run of serves from Natalie Roy brought the set to match point, before Szarka put things away with an attack from the left, 25-16.

The Mustangs get their first action on home court this Sunday, September 22nd when they take on the Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences at 4:00 pm.
