PHOENIXVILLE, Pa. – Penn State Schuylkill Women's Volleyball defeated NCAA Division III opponent University of Valley Forge in three sets. The scores for each set were (25-13, 25-10, 25-5)
Following an early 2-0 start for Valley Forge, Schuylkill countered with a 7-1 stretch highlighted by three kills from Maddy Robinson (Auburn, PA / Blue Mountain). As Valley Forge continued to battle to stay in the set, Schuylkill launched another run midway through, extending their lead to 17-8. Schuylkill maintained their momentum and comfortably secured the set, winning by double digits.
In the second set, Schuylkill jumped out to a 3-0 lead with kills from Mahea Kelley (Bowie, MD / Bowie) and Robinson. After a brief setback due to an attack error, Schuylkill quickly bounced back. A kill by Robinson, followed by three consecutive aces from Ryliegh Sinko (Minersville, PA / Nativity BVM), sparked a 7-0 surge. Schuylkill's lead grew to double digits when Tajae Stevenson (Paterson, NJ / John F. Kennedy) delivered a kill, pushing the score to 14-4. Schuylkill continued to dominate, holding a lead of up to 15 points during the set.
Schuylkill continued their strong performance in the third set, as Tiffany Bohner's (Hegins, PA / Tri Valley) three aces contributed to an early 6-0 advantage. They later unleashed a commanding 13-0 run, pushing the lead to 19-2. A final 5-0 spurt sealed the set with a decisive 25-5 victory.
Robinson finished with 7 kills on 8 attempts and led the team in blocks. Kelley contributed 4 kills, 4 aces, and 4 digs. Sinko paced the team with 7 assists, while Bohner led with 7 digs.
Schuylkill (1-2 overall, 0-0 PSUAC) will return to action Tuesday, September 10th as they travel to Cairn University. Start time for that matchup is 7:00 p.m.
