A Lead After Three Just Not Enough for the Moose

A Lead After Three Just Not Enough for the Moose

Augusta, ME - The Moose fell to the Lady Seawolves of SMCC at the Augusta Civic Center on Wednesday, Nov. 16 with a final score of 62-52.

The Lady Seawolves took a quick lead after the 1st quarter where the Moose found themselves trailing 19-12, however the defense started to tilt the momentum.

Desirea Dumias led the Moose defensively with 3 rebounds and 1 blocked shot during the 2nd quarter, as Sydney Farrar (returning from injury) started finding her offensive rhythm dropping 4 on the Seawolves. With the Moose only giving up 8 points in the 2nd quarter they would head to the locker room only down by 4 points (27-23). The Moose shifted gears offensively in the 3rd quarter scoring 21 points led by Sydney Farrar (6) Kaeti Butterfield (5) Mariah Dunbar (5) and Ariana Alcide (5) and would head into the 4th quarter with a 1 point lead.

Unfortunately the Moose ran out of steam down the homestretch and were outpaced by the depth of the Lady Seawolves with a final score of 62-52.

The Lady Seawolves were led by Jaylyn Bartolome and Ashleigh Mathisen scoring 14 each; Mathisen would also tally seven rebounds and three assists.

The Moose were led by Mariah Dunbar with a double-double effort highlighted by 11 points, 10 rebounds, three blocks, and Kaeti Butterfield, 11 points, 6 rebounds, and 1 block. The Moose get back into the action on Sunday, November 20th when they travel to play NHTI at 1pm.
