Lady Bobcats Cruise to YSCC Final Four
Paul Smiths, NY ~ The Paul Smith's College women's basketball team hosted a first round playoff game against conference foe NHTI over the weekend; this is the first time that the program has hosted a playoff game since it was brought back to the college. The Bobcats won every quarter, cruising to a 95-79 victory to seal a spot in the YSCC Final Four this upcoming weekend.
Four Bobcats finished with double figures, and three of those finished with double doubles. Holly Bagley ((Bloomfield, NY) led the way with 26 points, sinking three triples from long range. Hayleigh Gates (West Winfield, NY), Jayla Gray (Smithfield, VA), and Abbey Bateman (Edmeston, NY) contributed 22,19, and 18 points respectively. The Bobcats had familiar faces work the paint, as Bagley led the way with 17 rebounds. Gates contributed 15 boads while Gray snatched 11 of her own. The Bobcats were sharing the limelight Saturday afternoon, finishing with 23 assists as a team. Bagley led the way with seven, while Brooke D'Amato (Waterbury, CT) and Bateman both dished out five assists. Gates added four helpers of her own as the Bobcats dominated from start to finish.
Gray earned her 11th double double of the season. Gates earned her 5th double double, and Bagley picked up her 3rd double double on the season, finishing just three assists shy of a triple double.
