Syracuse, NY-
The Bryant & Stratton College- Syracuse Women's Basketball team suffered their first defeat of the 2022-23 season to Bryant & Stratton College- Buffalo on Friday night, 70-62. The loss is the only blemish on the schedule for the Lady Bobcats as their overall record drops to 6-1.
How it happened:
The story of this game is certainly a tale of two halves. In the first half, the Bryant & Stratton College- Syracuse Women's Basketball team looked dominant over their opponent. The energy from the packed gym translated onto the court as the defensive effort and intensity stood out and helped the Lady Bobcats create turnovers and get stops on the defensive end.
Strong starts to the game for Jehiah Cook (15 points), Shania Lewis (16 points), and Eunice Sillong (16 points) were the engine behind the Lady Bobcats' early push. Heading into the half, the Lady Bobcats had opened a 15-point lead and held Bryant & Stratton College- Buffalo to just 24 points.
In the second half, the script completely switched. Bryant & Stratton College- Buffalo came out of the intermission looking like a completely different team. A major factor for the visitors getting back into the game was their shooting from 3-point range in the second half.
Guard, Kat Kanhoye, poured in 34 points for the visitors on the evening and made several free throws down the stretch to secure the victory for Bryant & Stratton College- Buffalo, 70-62.
"This was a really intense, hard-fought game between two really good teams," said Head Coach Quantae Elijah following the game. "I am proud of the way that our team battled, but we made some mistakes, myself included, that ultimately cost us the game. I think that we can learn a lot from a game like this that will help us improve and playing in games like these will only prepare us for our ultimate goal later on in the season."
Next Game:
The Lady Bobcats will be back on the road on Friday, December 16th with a matchup against Five Towns College at 6pm.
