Pottersville, NY~ The Paul Smith's College Volleyball Team had a stellar weekend, sweeping Great Bay CC in straight sets and securing two hard-fought five-set victories over Central Maine CC and Southern Maine CC at the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) quad match held at Word of Life Bible Institute in Pottersville, NY.
In the sweep against GBCC, Kaliyah Davis (Queensbury, NY) led the offense with eight kills, while Jordan Louis (Crystal, NM) was right behind her with seven. Grad student Alli Cherry (Grasonville, MD) orchestrated the attack with 11 assists, and Karlye Murphy (Hilton, NY) was on fire from the service line, earning four service aces. Cherry also added eight digs in the defensive effort.
The Bobcats' match against CMCC went the distance, with Paul Smith's coming out on top in five sets. Sophomore Finnley Jacobson (Vergennes, VT) had an explosive outing with 12 kills, 10 digs, and seven service aces. Jordan Louis and Alli Cherry kept the offense flowing, contributing 18 and 16 assists, respectively. Defensively, Kaliyah Davis was dominant with 24 digs and 13 kills, while Maddi Rhodes (Charlotte, NC) and Ali Russell (Old Forge, NY) added nine and seven kills each.
The final match of the day saw the Bobcats edge SMCC in another five-set thriller. Jacobson once again carried the attack with 11 kills, 12 digs, three solo blocks, and two assisted blocks. Maddi Rhodes showed her versatility with 10 kills and 11 digs, while Cherry and Louis contributed 16 and 12 assists, respectively. Davis was an anchor defensively, recording an impressive 23 digs to go along with eight kills.
The Bobcats have moved up in the YSCC standings with the weekend sweep and are back in action this weekend against ACPHS and NHTI, looking to keep their momentum rolling.
