Men's Basketball Falls to Berkeley, 77-66

NEWPORT NEWS - The Apprentice School men's basketball team fell at the hands of Berkeley Friday night, 77-66.

After the Builders jumped out to an early lead, the Knights began to win almost all of the 50-50 plays, pulling down a total of 27 offensive rebounds on the night and turning the Builders over 21 times.

Apprentice would keep the game close, trimming the lead down to five on two occasions in the second half, but each time, Berkeley had an answer, stretching the lead back to double figures and holding on for the road win.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

  • CJ Highsmith recorded a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds, while Avin Hawkins also added 13 off the bench. Karree Smith contributed 11.
  • The Knights had 46 points in the paint and 19 second chance points.
  • Five players on Berkeley's roster finished in double figures.

It's a quick turnaround for the Builders as they jump back into New South Athletic Conference action tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m. as they play host to Carolina Christian.
