Bobcats Overcome Poor Shooting in Road Win Over Carlow
PITTSBURGH, PA - The Bryant & Stratton Buffalo Bobcats overcame a poor shooting night, holding a hefty 60-42 edge on the boards as they upended the Carlow Celtics on the road Monday night inside Donahue Pavillion.
PITTSBURGH, PA - The Bryant & Stratton Buffalo Bobcats overcame a poor shooting night, holding a hefty 60-42 edge on the boards as they upended the Carlow Celtics on the road Monday night inside Donahue Pavillion.
Three different players had 11 rebounds for Buffalo and were led offensively by junior Sam Dorissaint who scored 20 points. Dorissaint picked up his first double-double of the year and went 6-9 from the floor and 7-8 from the free throw line. He was one of the three players with 11 rebounds as senior Shyquinn Dix and sophomore Eric Waters each had 11 also.
Buffalo shot a season-low 29.9 percent from the floor and just 13.8 (4-29) percent from three, but were able to shoot 71.4 percent (35-49) from the free throw line. Despite the poor shooting, the Bobcats never trailed and used 25 offensive rebounds to maintain the lead wire-to-wire.
Freshman Danny Turkvan was the only other starter in double-figures as he scored 14 and secured 8 rebounds. Sophomore RaeQuan Scott had 12 off the bench, including a 40-foot runner as the first half horn sounded. Turkvan led the Bobcats with six offensive rebounds while Dorissaint and Waters each had five.
The bench of Buffalo combined to score 29. After Scott's 12, junior Deric Jackson and sophomore Davon Ware each scored five. Sophomore Jonathon Moody scored three, and juniors Denzel Fuller and Zeke McMurtry had two a piece.
It marks the fourth win in five games for Buffalo as they improved to 5-2 on the season and 2-2 on the road.
THE SERIES
This was the first meeting between the Bobcats and Celtics with B&SC Buffalo now holding a 1-0 lead in the all-time series.
UP NEXT
The Bobcats will be back in Pittsburgh this Saturday when they take on another NAIA River States Conference opponent, Point Park at 12 p.m. It will be the second meeting this season against the Pioneers as Buffalo came away with an 81-78 win to open the season in Buffalo. B&SC Buffalo leads the all-time series 3-1.
