Mustangs stay hot, win Fall Classic crown

Sanford, ME - The CM Mustangs won their 12th straight game by beating NHTI then defeating SMCC to take home the Fall Classic crown at Goodall Park in Sanford on Saturday afternoon.

In game one against NHTI, Mason Booker's two run homerun in the bottom of the first inning proved to be the game winner as the Mustangs ran away with a 9-4 victory. Craig Burnett had two hits including a double and Colton Frisbie added two RBI. Shane Sullivan started on the mound going five innings giving up four hits and striking out ten to get the win. Burnett finished up and picked up the save.

In game two, it was all Garren Post and Trevor Phelps as the Mustangs got ahead and never looked back defeating SMCC 5-2 to take the YSCC Fall Classic Crown.

Post had three hits and three RBI's including a two run double in the 5th. Keith Hooker added a two run single in the 6th. Trevor Phelps was once again a man on the mound. He went 5.2 innings giving up just one run while striking out five in the win. Jack Cote and Hooker pitched in relief with Hooker picking up the save.

Coach Palmer had this to say after the game, "Today was a great day for CM baseball. Nothing was handed to us. We had to work out tails off for everything we got. Those were not easy opponents that we defeated. The Yankee conference is heading in the right direction. I can't say enough about Garren Post's bat and Trevor Phelps arm. Clutch hitting by Garren and dominating pitching by Trevor."

The Mustangs are back in action next weekend with a three game series against USCAA powerhouse Bryant and Stratton Albany with game one being Friday night. Then a doubleheader Saturday to finish out the fall season.
