Snowden's Late Three, Street's Double-Double Propel Bobcats to Thrilling 73-71 Win

BUFFALO, NY - A double-double from Jordan Street off the bench, and a late clutch three from Mick Snowden with 32 seconds left was enough to push the Bryant & Stratton Buffalo Bobcats past the Fisher Falcons 73-71 on Saturday evening inside the Burt Flickinger Athletic Center.  It is the second time in as many seasons that the Bobcats have opened the season with a victory.

Street scored 13 of his game-high 22 points in the second half and corralled 15 rebounds, seven on the offensive glass.  He was apart of a bench unit that outscored that of the Falcons 59-26.  It was another senior, Mick Snowden who hit the eventual game-winning shot for the Bobcats when he pulled up from 25 feet just left of center and put home a triple to propel the home team to victory.

THE FAST BREAK

• Both teams didn't exactly play the cleanest basketball with Fisher shooting 38.8 percent from the floor and the Bobcats shooting 43.5 percent.  The teams combined for 30 turnovers with the Bobcats committing 18 of them.
• Senior Jonathan Range scored the first bucket of the game and the season for the Bobcats on a pull up 14-foot jumper from the left corner.
• The first half was tightly contested and back and forth as neither team led by more than four points.
• BSC Buffalo took a 35-34 lead into halftime.
• With 17:09 left in the game, junior forward Tyrell Mitchell knocked down two free throws to extend the lead to five, 43-38.
• Fisher was able to tie the game at 50 with 12:18 left, capping a quick 5-0 run.
• Damone Brown Jr. proceeded to steal an in-bounds pass moments later and laid the ball in.  After a Fisher free throw, he drilled a three on the ensuing possession to take a four-point lead.
• Junior Taijay Williams scored the next four points on back-to-back buckets for BSC Buffalo which was followed with two free throws from Street that gave the Bobcats their largest lead of the game, 61-53.
• Fisher responded with five straight to get within three, but Williams answered with another triple with 6:15 left.
• The Falcons however used another run, this time a 7-0 stretch to take a one-point lead with 4:17 left.  
• Snowden then hit his second biggest shot of the game, a triple from the right wing with 3:35 left to go up two, 67-65.
• Fisher once again answered with two straight baskets to go back ahead by two.  Street wouldn't let that last long however as he scored his final bucket of the game with 1:20 left.
• It was two possessions later that Snowden pulled up and nailed the game-winner with 32 seconds left.
• Fisher was able to get a long three-point look as time expired but the attempt was off the mark.

BOBCAT NOTES

• BSC Buffalo won the battle on the boards (48-36) and had 15 offensive rebounds which led to 22 second-chance points.
• The Bobcats had 19 assists on 27 baskets while the Falcons had just seven helpers on 26 made field goals.
• Fisher was able to turn 18 Bobcat turnovers into 17 points while BSC Buffalo had just 10 points off 12 Falcon turnovers.
• The game featured 14 lead changes and six ties.
• Range finished the game with six points, three assists and 10 rebounds.  He also had a crucial block in the first half.
• Mitchell finished with 16 points and four rebounds.  
• Williams and Brown Jr. combined for 17 points, three rebounds, six assists, three steals and just two turnovers off the bench.
• The Bobcats held the Falcons to just 12.5 percent (3-24) from three but only managed to shoot 22.7 percent (5-22) themselves.

WHAT THEY SAID

"It's never going to be pretty early in the season but we did enough to beat a really good team tonight," BSC Buffalo Head Coach Damone Brown said.  "We didn't shoot it the way we are capable of and we need a lot of work on the defensive end, but Jordan (Street) was big for us the whole game, and Snowy made the big shot when it mattered.  We'll be back at it Monday and we'll try to get better."

The Bobcats will remain at home for their next game when they host Bryant & Stratton Syracuse on Wednesday, Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. at the Burt Flickinger Athletic Center.  Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for BSC students with an ID, and free for kids 12 and under.
