Women's Basketball Claims NSAC Win Over VPCC

NEWPORT NEWS - The Apprentice School women's basketball team claimed a 64-41 win over Virginia Peninsula Community College Saturday.

After the Gators jumped out to a 14-9 advantage early, the Builders went on a 19-5 run to take a 26-20 lead after the first quarter. Apprentice would then hold VPCC to just seven second quarter points as the lead was stretched to 18 by halftime.

The Builders continued to impose their will through the second half before the game was halted by the officials after technical fouls were issued to both sides and tempers flared.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

  • The Builders improved to 1-1 in New South Athletic Conference play with the win.
  • Nyla Jackson led all scorers with 21 points, including hitting 5-of-9 three pointers.
