RECORDS: #4 Briarcliffe College 12-9, #8 Berea College 16-13

IN BRIEF: Berea College won their second game of the day, holding off Briarcliffe College to advance in the loser's bracket into Wednesday.

ON THE FIELD: Briarcliffe College struck first with a run in the second inning with a bases loaded walk. However, the Lady Bulldogs weren't able to score further and ended up stranding all three runners. The same situation occurred in the next inning with Briarcliffe leaving the bases loaded after scoring two more runs to take a 3-1 edge. The Lady Mountaineers would roar back in the bottom of the fourth on a Morgan McClure RBI double and an error, allowing McClure to score and tie the game. Berea would add two more runs in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI groundout from McClure and an RBI single from Victoria Sergent. Down two in the seventh, Briarcliffe would get and RBI single from Heidi Gomez but stranded her on third after Sergent struck out Ashley Gesmondi to end the game. In relief, Sergent went four innings giving up only two runs and striking out six to earn the win. Raina Bunai added three hits for Briarcliffe College.

NEXT UP: Berea College advances to face the winner of #5 Penn State Hazleton versus #6 NHTI at 2:00 PM on Wednesday. Briarcliffe College will play their final game of the season in the fifth place game on Wednesday at 12:00 PM.
