#5 Penn State Hazleton 3 - #6 NHTI 8

RECORDS: #5 Penn State Hazleton 30-16, #6 NHTI 24-3

LOCATION: 2015 USCAA Softball National Championship, Akron, Ohio

IN BRIEF: Tied after five innings, NHTI broke through with five runs in the final two innings to stave off elimination and advance in the USCAA Softball National Championship.

ON THE FIELD: This game was close nearly the entire way before NHTI broke through with a four run seventh inning that was capped by a Masha Lange inside the park home run. It was an inning made possible by three Penn State Hazleton errors. Tori Lemay started her third game of the tournament. Having pitched 7.1 innings earlier in the day and taking a hard luck loss to Carlow University, she was touched up for three runs and seven hits in three innings of work. In relief, the Lady Lynx's Lindsey Hampton pitched four perfect innings to give her offense time to breakthrough. Lange was 4-4 in the game with 2 RBI's, and Hampson added three hits. The Lady Lions received two hits from Andrea Quilman and two RBI's from Britani Esser.

NEXT UP: NHTI is one of four teams remaining in contention. They'll face off against #8 Berea College at 2:00 PM on Wednesday. Penn State Hazleton will finish its season at 12:00 PM on Wednesday against #4 Briarcliffe College in the fifth place game.
