IN BRIEF:  Cleary University opened the scoring in the game in the bottom of the first inning, scoring one run.  In their third inning at bat, Cleary tallied eight more runs, bringing the score to 9-0, which would be the final score after the game was ended by the mercy rule in the fifth inning.

HOW THEY SCORED: Cleary's second batter, Tara Smith, doubled in her at bat and stole third.  Ashley Valle, hit into a fielder's choice allowing Smith to score the first run for Cleary in the bottom of the first inning. 

In the third inning Kaitlin Dormire doubled and then scored after an error by Beaver in Ashley Valle's at bat.  Paige Eastman was the next Cougar to double, scoring Valle, bringing the score to 3-0.  The double's continued to come as Allie Newcomb hit a 3-RBI double scoring Olivia Silvestri, Eastman and Sam Adams.  With two outs in the inning, Cleary batted through their order and in Dormire's second at bat she hit an RBI single, scoring Newcomb and extending the Cleary lead to 9-0.

BEHIND THE BOX SCORE: Junior, Brooke Edmonds went an impressive 4 for 4 in the game, leading the team in hits.  Both Kaitlin Dormire and Allie Newcomb had 3 RBI's, leading the team in that statistical category. 

On the mound for the Cougars to start the game was Olivia Silvestri who threw a one-hitter in her four innings pitched, striking out four batters.  She was relieved by Jaqueline Wood who threw the final inning of the game.

Penn State Beaver's lone hit in the game came off the bat of senior, Rachael Charlier who was 1 for 2 in the game. 

NEXT UP: With the victory, Cleary University claims the 7th place finish in their first USCAA Softball Championship Tournament as Penn State Beaver heads home with the 8th place finish.
