Robert Backus is currently serving in his 24^th year with SUNY Delhi Athletics. 

Bob is entering his 12^th year overall as the Director of Athletics at SUNY Delhi and previously coached the Men’s and Women’s Cross Country and Track & Field programs from 1993-2008.  During that coaching tenure his squads won 15 NJCAA National Championship titles.

The SUNY Delhi Broncos Athletic program sponsors 19 intercollegiate programs which are all currently affiliated with the USCAA and 11 programs that are also affiliated with the NAIA.

Backus was recognized as the Garth Pleasant Honorary USCAA Athletic Director of the Year in 2016 and the NJCAA Region III Athletic Director of the Year in 2013.

Backus holds an earned Master’s Degree in Physical Education from Eastern Kentucky University and a Bachelor’s Degree from Oneonta State, NY.
